Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI),  yesterday introduced a new brand identity and plans to grow life and general businesses offering wider benefits to customers.

This year so far SLIC has seen a 19% increase of life insurance and a 28% increase of general insurance businesses.

The new corporate logo further highlights the brand’s position as a strong dynamic leader, which is relevant and focused on adapting to the constantly changing needs of its customers. Having gained the title ‘Most Loved Insurance Brand’ in the country earlier this year, the company is focused on product and IT development, expanding brand network, and ensuring a progressive team, stated officials at the event.

SLI Executive Chairman Hemaka Amarasuriya said: “I believe that the first step in our new journey is to take the brand name to new heights, and we hope that it will attract a lot more customers. At present we have close to 150 service centres, but hope to have over 225 by the end of the year, in order to fast-track branch expansion.” Amarasuriya revealed that a new branch will be opened in Katugastota on 7 August. He also stated that 12% of the year’s budget has been spent to enhance company facilities as of now, and will be used to complete the agenda of building IT and digital infrastructure by the end of the year.

SLI CEO Chandana L. Aluthgama said: “We are starting a new chapter, a new journey after over 56 years, and it is truly a great opportunity for the company. Sri Lanka Insurance has also expanded and revamped its Retirement Scheme, ensuring pensioners to get the highest returns on their retirement plans.”

The launch of the new logo is a good representation of the organisation’s three-year plan to improve processes and introduce products and features that address the needs of the modern consumer, and will help the company stay ahead of its competitors, emphasised Aluthgama.

This plan is to include a total Life Solution, which will cater to every stage of a person’s life, with ten life insurance policies to choose from.  Likewise, the company has also launched the only diabetic policy, called Comprehensive D+, which will greatly benefit the growing diabetic population in the country.

The Life Solution will also contain a Rs. 10 million cashless medical card, which will allow customers to make payments with their cards, without having the hassle or the worry of having to pay upfront across all hospitals in the country.

In general business, SLIC is to further speed up claim processing allowing customers to enjoy claims up to Rs. 75,000 within three hours of an accident. As of now, the insurance company settles over Rs.800 million in claims daily.
