SANASA Development Bank (SDB) was awarded a merit award within the Banking Sector at the 2019 edition of the annual National Business Excellence Awards, organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), which saw South African High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Robina P. Marks, grace the ceremony as its Chief Guest along with a host of other distinguished invitees.
This year has been a seminal one for SDB bank, with its incorporation of digital streams in serving its rural, urban and commercial clients across the country. The bank has fully embraced digital paths through the introduction of SDB bank’s Corporate Internet Banking facility, the SDB mobile app, its re-launch of a mobile responsive website and a vertical VISA debit card, as well as the exciting addition of the UPay payment app to its fold in offering a unique set of payment solutions to its customer and merchant base.
SDB bank has also received numerous awards and recognitions in 2019 for several of these initiatives, including UPay securing the second runner-up award in the Best Client Delivery Innovation category at the SLASSCOM Innovation Awards 2019. Further, SDB bank received three separate awards at the Asian Banking and Finance Awards 2019 for the Financial Inclusion Initiative of the Year, the Advertising Campaign of the Year as well as Rural/Cooperative Bank of the Year.
Along with its network of 94 branches island-wide, the bank’s firm digital presence has allowed it to strengthen its reach and serve an even larger population while simultaneously uplifting the economy. The bank finishes the year on a high with its significantly strengthened digital presence as well as the numerous awards and recognitions the bank has received in 2019, including the recent National Business Excellence Award.
