RDB Bank empowers women’s society

Regional Development Bank (RDB), the premier and the fastest growing State-owned development bank, has conducted several programs all over the 268 branch network island-wide especially to empower rural and semi urban masses.



Under the Small Group Methodology special programs are operated island-wide to develop their economic activities through establishing economic literacy through community leaders who link rural masses to the bank. 

The small groups organised with over 90% women’s participation and the bank targeting lower income families under this program and take them to banking practices. 

Parallel to this program, one of the leading development societies in the Western Province, ‘Aluth Mawatha – Colombo 15 Nidahasa Women’s Development Society,’ which operates under the Kelaniya Branch of the bank, celebrates its third anniversary program recently.  At the function credit facility was delivered to 20 best entrepreneurs who repaid their first credit facility on time.

RDB Regional General Manager – Western Province W.S. Hewawasam was the Chief Guest of the event and District Manager Jayalath Amarasinghe, Asst. District Manager M.B. Ekanayake, Branch Manager Kamani Uditha were among others. The event was well organise by the society along with the rural leader T.W.C. Kumudunie.
