Granting of ‘Enterprise Sri Lanka’ loans to entrepreneurs in the north was held at Kokuvil Service Centre under the patronage of People’s Bank Chairman Hemasiri Fernando.
In a bid to encourage and strengthen Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME) and the commercial sector in general, the ‘Enterprise Sri Lanka’ loan scheme, a special concessionary loan, was introduced by the Government through a Budget proposal.
Under the ‘Enterprise Sri Lanka’ program, People’s Bank offers loan facilitates to micro, small and medium scale entrepreneurs to construct business premises, purchase machinery and equipment and services required for agriculture industries, solar power units, media equipment, touristic services and guest house construction as well as school buses.
People’s Bank has opened a dedicated loan counter in all branches island-wide to provide hassle-free and convenient loan service under concessionary interest rates. People’s Bank has also taken steps to assign experienced and well trained staff at these counters to help entrepreneurs select a loan scheme best suited for their needs.
People’s Bank Senior Deputy General Manager (Banking Operations) Bonniface Silva, Deputy General Manager (Banking Support Services) Mahinda Premanath, Jaffna Regional Manager A. Jayasith and Jaffna Stanley Road Branch Manager A. Sathyamoorthi as well as the bank’s key customers were present at the occasion.
