At Mastercard, we are committed towards the convenience of cardholders by offering them the choice, flexibility, confidence. This recognition is a testament to our vision to accelerate the pace of digital adoption and to deliver priceless experiences to Mastercard cardholders,” said Mastercard Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives Sandun Hapugoda.
Commenting on the award, Daraz Country Manager Rakhil Fernando said, “Being South Asia’s premier online shopping marketplace, it is imperative that we have trusted partners such as Mastercard, that provide the latest in terms of digital payment technology. We have had a fruitful partnership with Mastercard and are pleased with the results we have seen thus far, so we look forward to this partnership growing to greater heights in the future.”
In 2020, Mastercard collaborated with Daraz to offer its Mastercard Payment Gateway Services to help Daraz integrate global and local payment methods, mitigate risk and reduce costs that encouraged the use of e-commerce platforms and digital payments in Sri Lanka, thus creating greater digital inclusivity and contributing to the local digital economy. As part of the collaboration, shoppers were offered additional discounts and privileges on Daraz when paying with their Mastercard credit or debit cards issued in Sri Lanka, over and above the already offered discounts on products.
