Senior economist and LankaClear Chairman Dr. Kenneth De Zilva will keynote a top seminar/webinar on the implementation of Digital Signatures (DS) for banks, finance companies, importers, exporters, financial sector institutions, BOI, IRD, CEB and other Government institutions on 2 February from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Movenpick Hotel Colombo.
Dr. De Zilva who will detail upon the policy initiatives on digital signatures and the way forward for Sri Lanka, while LankaClear CEO Channa De Silva will deliver the main technical presentation.
ICTA General Counsel Jayantha Fernando will speak on the legal issues and its implications on DS and Commercial Bank Head of Retail Products and Digital Channels Pradeep Banduwansa will join the panel discussion on the implementation of DS.
Ministry of Finance former Senior Advisor Malik Cader will moderate the discussion.
The Sri Lanka Customs in a bid to improve efficiency for its users launched the Digital Signature facility for paperless processing. The move was part of a stepped-up automation transformation at Sri Lanka Customs and improving ease of use, reducing cost and time for the private sector and was implemented successfully.
Similarly, the banking sector too will follow suit to and introduce DS to all its clients and stake holders.
With digital signatures being mandated to the banking sector and other financial institutions, a shift in doing business in an effective, efficient and expeditious way will emerge. It is imperative that many government and private sector organisations, be aligned to face this new challenge, which will assist Sri Lanka to move up in the international ‘Doing Business Index’.
