The KPMG Sri Lanka Academy will be hosting ‘The Virtual Assembly’ on ‘Wealth Management’ on 21 July which will present insights on the investment management process.
The panellists will present the process of setting the tone, developing, and executing investment decisions to achieve financial and risk objectives. The discussion will also include the tax considerations from a Sri Lankan context, for investors to enhance their after-tax return.
The wealth management presentation will be delivered by Usama Jiffry who is an experienced financial adviser with expertise in capital markets and investment banking. He is a CFA Charter holder, an Associate member of CIMA (UK) and a member of CGMA. He is also accredited in Advanced Valuations from the University of New York – Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
The insights on the tax considerations from an investment management perspective will be delivered by Suresh R.I. Perera, Principal – Tax and Regulatory at KPMG in Sri Lanka who has over 20 years’ experience in taxation, accounting and legal aspects.
The content of the webinar will include pros and cons of investing in fixed income securities such as bank deposits, debentures, treasury bills and bonds as well as equity securities both listed and unlisted. In addition, the merits and demerits of investing in real estate sector will be a focus point. The speakers will focus on risks and yield involved under the current economic conditions and the associated current direct and indirect tax rules as well as the impact of the proposed tax changes applicable to the investment opportunities available.
