KPMG presentation on intricacies of tax on financial services

Financial services is one of the tax industries burned with various taxes. Other than Income Tax at the rate of 28%, there are many vibrant indirect taxes that apply to financial services. The presentation will enlighten the audience on the indirect taxes that are imposed on financial services, including the recently introduced debt repayment levy. The presentation will cover taxes such as VAT, NBT, Debt Repayment Levy, and Crop Insurance Levy. 

The presenters will discuss the scope of each tax, what financial services are liable for tax; the concept of value addition; 4 methods of calculating the value addition; making payments; filing returns; value addition statements, etc. Presentations to be made by KPMG Sri Lanka Principal (Tax and Regulatory) Suresh R I Perera and Associate Director (Tax and Regulatory) Rifka Ziyard.
