The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL) yesterday said it has been brought to its notice that certain persons are engaged in selling pass cards/coupon cards/discount cards to the public for a fee, offering discounts on certain insurance products, in contravention to the provisions of the Regulation of Insurance Industry Act, No. 43 of 2000.
Therefore, IRCSL advises the public to refrain from purchasing such pass cards/coupon cards/discount cards with a view to purchasing insurance policies.
The IRCSL has not authorised any insurance company or any insurance intermediary (registered insurance brokers and authorised insurance agents) to collaborate with any persons selling pass cards/coupon cards/discount cards.
IRCSL requests information pertaining to such unauthorised promotional campaigns to be emailed (if any) to [email protected].
