Adding to their tally of awards in 2018, Sri Lanka’s largest private sector Bank HNB and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Jonathan Alles were recognised as Asia’s Greatest Brands and Leaders 2018. The awardees were selected after an intense research in about 16 categories with award winners classified as iconic, powerful and emerging. The top leaders were recognised as prominent individuals for their exemplary success.

Held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore, the 3rd edition of Asia’s Greatest Brands & Leaders 2018 was held under the aegis of Asian Business & Social Forum as a one-day mega summit in the presence of esteemed dignitaries from Singapore, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thailand, China/Hong Kong, Myanmar, the UAE and Malaysia, where key leaders from business and government sectors congregated to facilitate fresher avenues of economic cooperation, first-hand networking and investment opportunities in the Asian region. The event was organised by AsiaOne Magazine and UWG Media Consulting with PriceWaterHouse Coopers as its process reviewer.
Managing Director/CEO Jonathan Alles expressed his thoughts on receiving the award: “HNB winning this award is great for its business and is an affirmation of the high quality delivered by our teams. Last year alone, the Bank was plied with several awards and accolades, some of which were: HNB as one of the top 1000 Banks in the world by the prestigious Banker Magazine and the highest ranked local bank in this listing; Best Retail Bank by the Asian Banker Magazine in addition to being declared Best SME Bank; Best Digital Bank and the Best Cash Management Bank in Sri Lanka at the AsiaMoney Awards. HNB was also named as the Best Corporate Cash Management Bank in Sri Lanka by EuroMoney, in addition to being awarded Best Retail and Best Micro Finance Bank at the International Finance Awards in 2018. Being recognised among the Most Admired Companies in Sri Lanka by the International Chamber of Commerce and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) was another feather in the cap.
