The inauguration of the program ‘A small step for a great start’ organised by HDFC Bank Sri Lanka successfully took place at the Hyde Park Corner branch recently.
As a responsible financial institution in the country, the purpose of such an initiative was to promote urban agriculture and contribute to the community via knowledge sharing and plant/seed distribution that may assist one another during these troubled times. The event was also broadcasted live via the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of HDFC Bank Sri Lanka to allow a wider audience to join with the program.
This occasion was graced by HDFC Bank Chairman Wasanthi Manchanayake, Chief Operating Officer A.J. Athukorala, Deputy General Manager Sudishna Perera, Regional Manager Nishantha Ranasinghe, Hyde Park Corner Branch Manager Amal Kiriella along with the distinguished invitees from the Department of Agriculture, District Agriculture Consultant for Western Province Samitha Madushanka, Deputy Provincial Agricultural Director Samanmalee Fernando and Assistant Provincial Agricultural Director Subhashini Premaratne.
The informative session by Samitha Madushanka on Low/No space agricultural techniques to support urban agriculture was certainly an eye opener for all participants.
HDFC Bank Chairperson Wasanthi Manchanayake said: “‘The Bank for your Home’ looks forward to continue the project with more sessions in future to assist our valued customers and all citizens of Sri Lanka.”
