Eminent foreign experts to grace CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2019

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) is organising its flagship event, the ‘CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2019’ for the fifth consecutive year. 

The presentation of awards will be held on 9 September at the Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo in line with the CMA National Management Accounting Conference 2019 and Commonwealth Accountants Conference under the theme of ‘Sustainable Development Goals Agenda 2030 – The Role of Professional Accountants’ on 10 September. 

A special workshop on Integrated Reporting will be held on 11 September after the conference and will be addressed by foreign and local experts on Integrated Reporting. 

A host of foreign experts on Integrated Reporting are expected to grace the event in many capacities as key note speakers, judges, advisers, speakers and special invitees. 

International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) London Chair Emeritus Prof. Mervin E. King has sent a message to mark the Fifth CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2019. In his message he has appreciated the work done by CMA Sri Lanka in promoting Integrated Reporting among Sri Lankan business organisations. He has also accepted the invitation to be the key note speaker at the Awards Ceremony.

He is also the Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa, a member of the Private Sector Advisory Group to the World Bank on Corporate Governance, and Chair of the African Integrated Reporting Council and Chair of the Integrated Reporting Committee of South Africa.

IIRC CEO Richard Howitt has sent a congratulatory message to mark the Fifth CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2019. 

He was also the key note speaker at the CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards ceremony 2017 and distributed the awards to award winners.

The IIRC has nominated its Goodwill Ambassador Graham Terry who has been closely associated with CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards since the inception and serves as a judge.

International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) President Prof. In-KiJoo which is the global organisation for the accountancy profession dedicated to serving the public interest by strengthening the profession and contributing to the development of strong international economies. 

IFAC is comprised of over 175 members and associates in more than 130 countries and jurisdictions, representing almost three million accountants in public practice, education, government service, industry, and commerce.

He has sent a message congratulating CMA for organising the CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards competition for the fifth successive year.

IFAC advocates globally for integrated reporting because it helps organisations deliver higher quality information with real meaning, information that serves the public interest by telling a clearer value creation and preservation story to stakeholders, employees, investors and capital markets, and, ultimately, to the communities they serve.

The application process for CMA Excellence in IR Awards 2019 is now open and the following dates are applicable for submission of integrated reports.

n21 June – Institutions whose financial year ends on 31 December 2018

n12 July – Institutions whose financial year ends on 31 March 2019

Sri Lankan business organisations including public quoted companies, private companies, and State-Owned Enterprises could apply under the following categories for overall and sector awards. Banking, Finance and Leasing, Insurance, Manufacturing Industry, Trade and Commerce, Diversified Holdings, State Owned Enterprises/Companies, Hotels and Travels, Plantations, Health Care, Power and Energy, Small and Medium Enterprises and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)/Not-for-Profit Organisations (NPOs)/Chambers of Commerce/Educational Institutes.
