The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has been awarded the titles of ‘Best Corporate Bank Sri Lanka 2020’ and ‘Best Trade Finance Bank Sri Lanka 2020’ by the International Business Magazine of the United Arab Emirates. The awards recognise the best-in-class achievements pertaining to budding industrial talent, global leaders and corporates across spheres related to the international business and finance arena, and are structured to identify core corporate players known to showcase their extraordinary prowess to lead. They honour those who strive to deliver supreme quality-backed services and function as a platform to appreciate business ethics and productive work.
The entire awards process is operated free of charge and is strictly supervised and scrutinised by expert panellists comprising key subject matter experts, and judging panellists comprising a research team and editor to finally select winners from a list of nominees.
Those awarded included niche businesses, emerging markets, SMEs, lead corporates, stock exchanges, insurance and forex providers, real estate giants and banking and finance companies.
Notably, the Commercial Bank of Ceylon also won the title of ‘Best Private Bank Sri Lanka’ from the same awarding body last year.

The first Sri Lankan bank to be listed among the Top 1000 Banks of the World and the only Sri Lankan bank to be so listed for nine years consecutively, Commercial Bank is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The bank, which won more than 50 international and local awards in 2019, operates a network of 268 branches and 865 ATMs in Sri Lanka.
Commercial Bank’s overseas operations encompass Bangladesh, where the bank operates 19 outlets, Myanmar, where it has a Representative Office in Yangon and a microfinance company in Nay PyiTaw, and the Maldives, where the bank has a fully-fledged Tier I Bank with a majority stake.
