Ceylinco Life won four awards, including two Golds, one Silver and a Bronze at the National Business Excellence Awards (NBEA) for 2021 presented by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) to honour Sri Lankan businesses that excel in their respective fields.
Sri Lanka’s life insurance leader received two prestigious Criteria Awards: the Gold for Excellence in Corporate Governance and Strategy and the Silver for Excellence in Environmental Sustainability; as well as a Gold for Business Excellence in the Insurance Sector under the Business Sector awards; and the Bronze for Business Excellence in the Extra-large category under the Category awards.
“We are delighted to win these important awards in recognition of business excellence achieved in one of the most challenging years in recent times,” Ceylinco Life Managing Director/CEO Thushara Ranasinghe said.
“Awards of this nature provide motivation to our team to work towards raising the bar even further as we respond to the evolving needs of our customers, the community and the planet,” he added.
The judging process for the National Business Excellence Awards included evaluating applications based on a seven-point criteria and reviews in three stages; a desk review involving a technical panel, interviews of shortlisted candidates, and a final review of all preliminary evaluation reports and the outcome of the interviews by a panel of judges.
The seven aspects assessed were: strategy and leadership; corporate governance; capacity building; performance management; local and global markets; corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability; and business and financial results.
According to the National Chamber of Commerce, weightage was given to institutions that are conscious of the importance of reducing carbon emissions, transforming the nature of the workplace, and creating value for all in society.
Launched in 2004 by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, the National Business Excellence Awards program has maintained high standards and gained prestige among the business community and is recognised as a well-structured awards scheme that acknowledges excellence of businesses in Sri Lanka.
