  • Cashwagon has been awarded fastest growing fintech company in Sri Lanka and CEO of the year by International Business Magazine

Cashwagon’s success in Sri Lanka, as well as in the South-East Asia region, continues with two awards that recognise the company’s efforts to provide accessible financial services to the public. Cashwagon took home the prizes for Fastest Growing Fintech Company in Sri Lanka, while Cashwagon Sri Lanka CEO Samila Fernando was awarded CEO of the year. The winners were decided by International Business Magazine’s judging panel of industry professionals.

International Business Magazine is a Dubai based (UAE) media with global reach, covering diverse topics across business, finance, and other lead markets. Cashwagon Sri Lanka CEO Samila Fernando responded positively to the announcement: the news of the company’s acceptance by FASL, noting: “Both personally and as an organisation, I am incredibly proud today. These awards underline the progress that we have made since our launch in 2017. It’s important to remember we are still a young and growing company and that our biggest achievements are still to come.”

Another recent accomplishment was the securing of an ISO 9001 certification – the first of its kind for a fintech company based in Sri Lanka. ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) is an independent, non-governmental, international organisation that develops standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems. Obtaining ISO 9001 means that products and services of the company meet quality standards and regulatory requirements, while also demonstrating continuous improvement. With this designation and awards, combined with the 100s of thousands of satisfied users, Cashwagon continues its mission to provide innovative and secure financial services to the people who need it most.

Cashwagon is a fintech (financial technology) company that operates a digital platform, providing access to financial services for the general public. With a head office in Singapore, Cashwagon operates in five countries of South-East Asian. Since its Sri Lankan release in April 2017, the Cashwagon platform has connected more than 190,000 borrowers with lending partners, who have disbursed more than 700,000 loans within Sri Lanka. The company prides itself as a fintech pioneer in the Sri Lankan market and was one of the first digital platform to introduce rapid online consumer financial services for underserved people, as well as the first company to become a member of the Sri Lanka Fintech Association (FASL).
