CMA Budget Highlights 2018 seminar on 14 Nov.

The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) will conduct a seminar titled ‘Budget Highlights 2018 – Tax Proposals and Impact on Business and Economy’ on 14 November from 8.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m. at Cinnamon Lakeside’s Kings Court. 

The focus of the seminar will be to highlight the important aspects of Budget 2018 covering the economy and taxation with special emphasis on corporate and personal taxation, VAT and miscellaneous taxes and the impact of new taxes on business and the economy.

The seminar will be inaugurated by Chief Guest State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramaratne, who will address the gathering on the topic ‘Budget Highlights 2018’. 

The welcome address will be delivered by CMA – Sri Lanka President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala. The presentations on ‘Appropriation Bill and Government Expenditure’ will be delivered by A.R. Desapriya - Deputy Secretary to the Treasury, Ministry of Finance; ‘Taxation Proposals’ by  Roshini Fernando - Partner Tax, Ernst & Young; ‘Economic Implication of the Budget’ Proposals 2018 by Dr. Nishan De Mel - CEO, Verité Research Ltd. and ‘Business Aspects and Budget Proposals’ by Rajendra Theagarajah - Joint Deputy Chairman Cargills Bank Ltd, Sri Lanka and Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The panel discussion will be held at the end of the presentations and will be moderated by 

Duminda Hulangamuwa - Partner, Ernst & Young while the panelists are N.R. Gajendran - Senior Partner, Gajma & Co; Samantha Ranatunga - Managing Director and CEO, CIC Holdings Plc; D.R.S. Hapuarachchi - Senior Commissioner, Department of Inland Revenue; Mahendra Jayasekera - Managing Director, Lanka Walltiles Plc; Suresh Perera, Principal, Tax & Regulatory, KPMG; Hasitha  Premaratne - Chief Financial Officer, Brandix Lanka Ltd. and Thanuja Perera - Tax Advisor, Ministry of Finance.

Participants will also have an opportunity to obtain clarifications and pose direct questions to speakers and panellists.
