  • Revolutionary online financial platform CDBiNet wins Best Digital Integrated Campaign
  • CDB.LK adjudged second runner-up for Best Website or Microsite

Asserting its presence as a leading disruptor in the financial industry with its pioneering technological innovations, Citizens Development Business Finance PLC (CDB) gained impressive kudos at the SLT Zero One Awards held recently, bagging the Best Digital Integrated Campaign in the financial industry for its online financial platform CDBiNet.

The CDB website also carried the second runner up award for the Best Website or Microsite in the financial industry, in an awards ceremony that recognised digital excellence in nine industry categories.

Evaluated by a panel of eminent judges, CDBiNet gained this top accolade due to optimising technological innovation through new digital platforms, using it positively to influence consumer lifestyles which have shifted to service at customers’ fingertips, by using social media innovatively.

“Our status as a leading NBFI in the industry is now firmly stamped with this award as well,” intones CDB’s MD/CEO Mahesh Nanayakkara, also referring to the impressive number of recent awards CDB was presented, including the National Business Excellence Awards for three years consecutively, and being adjudged one of the Ten Best Corporate Citizens and winning the Best Under Rs. 15 b Turnover Category corporate stewards at the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Awards.

“All these awards are about holistic success and not on how an entity has excelled in individual areas, and this includes innovation. With our team constantly surveying roads that would etch pathways of convenience for our customers, making financial solutions accessible for everyone, we have placed technology at the forefront of our strategic business priority. The fact that we have been recognised for integrating our financial solutions objectives into the digital space is therefore very rewarding.  Similarly, with cdb.lk gaining kudos for its user friendly accessibility, I do believe my team has surpassed its objectives of innovative excellence, raising the bar for the entirety of the industry.”

CDBiNet completely revolutionised product and service offerings within the financial services industry by using various facets of social media to make financial inclusivity key among technologically savvy citizenry. By enabling the transfer of funds using WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo, SMS and several other digital platforms, while maintaining the confidentiality of the sender, the opening of savings accounts and placements of FDs, CDBiNet has integrated diverse stakeholder segments into managing and accessing individual finances astutely and cohesively.   Similarly, CDB’s website too embraces the concept of financial inclusivity, meeting the judging criteria of creativity and interactive features which encompass functionality and ensures a seamless experience for the user.

“These awards have proven that CDB is on the right path to using technology in order to meet our end objective of financial inclusivity. By being recognised by the foremost telecommunications provider in the country for our prowess in technological innovation, CDB has now placed itself firmly at the top but we will always remain cognisant of constantly raising the bar given the transformative evolving nature of technology and the fact that we must continue to set benchmarks for the industry to follow,” concludes Nanayakkara.
