The Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL), the public sector wing of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), has organised a seminar on ‘Ethical Responsibility of Professional Accountants in the Public Sector’ next week, which will coincide with the visit of Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) President Carolyn Williamson to Sri Lanka.
The forum which has been organised for the benefit of professional accountants serving in the public sector, will be held under the patronage of Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, who will be the Chief Guest, while Carolyn Williamson and Solicitor General Dilrukshi Dias Wickramasinghe will be the guest speakers at the event on 10 September.
The forum aims to encourage public sector accounting professionals to play a more proactive role in helping eradicate corruption as well as irregularities in relation to the financial management within the sector. The main objective of the program is to encourage finance professionals in the public sector to reflect on the core pillars their profession has been built on by carrying out their duties in an impartial manner while maintaining the integrity of the profession.
The audience at the forum will comprise of Chartered Public Finance Accountants, CA Sri Lanka Members and key officials of the public sector.
CIPFA headquartered in London is the leading accountancy body for the public services providing education and training in accountancy and financial management.
