BOC gets Daraz’s award for ‘Best Performing Debit Card Base’ for 2nd consecutive year

‘Daraz Payment Partner Performance Award 2022’ recently awarded the Bank of Ceylon with the ‘Best Performing Debit Card Base for 2022’ accolade.

It was also the second consecutive year BOC was honoured for this partnership at a ‘Daraz Payment Partner Award’ ceremony. The bank’s DGM Product and Banking Development Ajith Karunarathne, AGM Electronic Banking Eranga Bandara, AGM Digital Products Promotion S.A.N.C. Piumal, Chief Manager Hasitha Amarasekera and Marketing Manager Amila Thilakaratne accepted the award on behalf of the bank from Daraz CEO/Managing Director Rakeel Fernando.

The BOC has seen an unprecedented demand for its debit cards among its customer base. By 2021, BOC’s overall debit card performance reached a milestone with a 400% growth when compared with performances in preceding years. This remarkable growth was especially a result of the bank’s focus on enriching partnership with its online platforms. In turn, the growth witnessed in BOC Card performances has enabled the country’s e-commerce market to reach new heights. Hence, partnerships with e-commerce platforms such as Daraz that bring together consumers and sellers remain instrumental in realising the Central Bank’s objective towards a cashless society at large.

In addition, BOC Credit Cardholders are eligible for zero interest instalment plans when purchasing goods and services from selected merchants.
