The Association of Compliance Officers of Banks in Sri Lanka (ACOB), as part of their stakeholder initiatives for 2019, has organised the Compliance Quiz 2019 themed ‘Compliance at the Speed of Thought’. The event is to be held on 1 November at Kings Court, Cinnamon Lakeside from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The ACOB is the apex Compliance Body for Banks in Sri Lanka. Having commenced its initial activities in 2005 it was subsequently formalised as an Association in 2010. It provides a forum to discuss compliance related issues and to share knowledge and experience among the Compliance Officers of Banks in order to promote a strong compliance culture. The ACOB also works closely with the banking regulator in Sri Lanka – the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) to improve compliance standards in the industry.
One of the main objectives for organising this event is to enhance knowledge within the banking community on the regulatory framework applicable to Banks in Sri Lanka and other Governance, Risk and Compliance aspects. ACOB believes this event will contribute towards uplifting compliance standards within the industry and also promoting goodwill and fellowship among bankers.
CBSL Governor Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy will be the Chief Guest and Additional Director – Economic Research Dr. Chandranath Amarasekara will be the Quiz Master for the Compliance Quiz 2019.
The competition, which is open to all Licensed Commercial Banks and Licensed Specialised Banks in Sri Lanka, has already received an overwhelming response from the banking community with registration of more than 25 for the event.
The Quiz will consist of five rounds of which three rounds will be dedicated to regulatory aspects and two rounds will be on Current Affairs, Sports and Entertainment. Questions on the regulatory rounds will be from laws, rules and regulations coming under the purview of the Bank Supervision Department, Department of Foreign Exchange and the Financial Intelligence Unit.
Officials of CBSL who have expertise in the regulatory aspects will be collaborating with the ACOB to set questions and act as the Panel of Judges.
Winners of the Quiz will be awarded with attractive cash prizes of Rs. 100,000, Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively. Winners of each round will also be recognised.
