327 young entrepreneurs from east identified for Enterprise Sri Lanka Thurunu Diriya loans

The Prime Minister Policy Development Office (PDO) revealed yesterday that 327 young entrepreneurs qualified to receive ‘Thurunu Diriya’ loans were identified from the Eastern Province. 

This was revealed at a progress review meeting for Eastern Province, which was held on 14 September at the District Secretariat, Trincomalee, with the presence of the Trincomalee District Secretary. 

Further, it was revealed that seven entrepreneurs from the Eastern Province have already received this loan, and business plans for another 104 young entrepreneurs were prepared by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Project Management and Southern Development Small Enterprises Development Division (SEDD) and handed over to Bank of Ceylon (BOC). 

In addition, 95 awareness programs on Thurunu Diriya loan schemes have been conducted in this Province up to date.

This progress review committee meeting was attended by the officials representing the Trincomalee District Secretariat, Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs Central Program Management Unit (CPMU), BOC, selected community-based organisations from the Eastern Province, all the Divisional Secretariats in the Eastern Province, as well as the assistant directors of the Small Enterprises Development Division.

The Thurunu Diriya loan scheme was launched by BOC in collaboration with the PDO, CPMU, and SEDD.

The BOC Thurunu Diriya loan scheme grants loans for young entrepreneurs without a guarantor and collateral or with lenient guarantor conditions for small-scale young entrepreneurs who possess a degree or a recognised vocational certificate who have been in business for three years.
