‘WAYO Live in Concert’, another fund raising initiative of Newstead Girls College, Negombo towards the proposed building complex which is to be erected in the primary section, will come alive at the College grounds on Saturday, 1 June, 2013 from 7.30 p.m. onwards.
The renowned band Wayo led by famous vocalist cum musician Sangeeth Wijesooriya will be in attendance along with Sri Lanka’s most loved artists Nirosha Virajinee, Keerthi Pasquel and Lahiru Perera, and will be hosted by Dushan Vas as the master of ceremonies.
‘WAYO Live in Concert’ is proudly presented by Past Pupils Association of Newstead Girls College Negombo, which is a leading public School in Negombo, Sri Lanka, and considered the oldest public school in the country and will be celebrating its 200th Anniversary in the year 2016.
In view of the bicentenary celebrations, the school and the Past Pupils Association (PPA) has organized an array of events to commemorate the same on a grand scale. The first of such events was a highly successful Newstead Walk, which paraded the streets of Negombo with the participation of more than 10,000 enthusiasts.
Simultaneously, the laying of the first foundation stone for the proposed building was held on 29 January 2013, attended by Pushpa Rajapakse.
The total cost of the three-storied building with all the modern facilities is in the region of Rs. 27 million and is expected to complete by 2016, in which year Newstead will be celebrating its Bi-centenary.
The tickets are priced at Rs. 500 each and can be bought at the School entrance.
