Wattala keyed up for grand Odel opening

Excitement is mounting in Wattala as Odel puts the finishing touches to a stand-out five story edifice that will soon serve the fashion and lifestyle needs of the residents of this bustling suburb and draw visitors from towns on the northern outskirts of Colombo.

The latest outlet of the chic department store chain is on schedule to have a characteristically entertaining opening in the evening of Tuesday 27 September at 350 Negombo Road, Wattala, opposite the showrooms of Toyota Lanka, giving Wattala brag rights to its very own Odel experience.

 

Comprising of 12,000 square feet of trend-defining shopping synonymous with the Odel brand, the new Wattala store will offer casual and formal wear for men, women and children, as well as office wear, lingerie, bags, shoes, and toys and will have its own ‘Embark,’ ‘Backstage,’  ‘Souvenir’ and ‘Delight’ departments.

Adequate parking facilities have been provided in front of the building and in its basement for the convenience of shoppers at the new store, Odel’s 16th in Sri Lanka.

 “We are delighted to be in Wattala,” Odel founder and CEO Otara Gunewardene commented. “Every new city that Odel has opened in has welcomed our arrival and fully justified our expectations. We plan to give Wattala a shopping experience that is truly representative of Odel.”

A dazzling evening opening inclusive of video mapping of the outlet is planned, and five lucky first-night shoppers will win shopping vouchers from Odel. The store will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Odel chain in Sri Lanka presently comprises of a department store at Alexandra Place, and outlets at Kohuwala, Maharagama, Mount Lavinia, Moratuwa, Panadura, Nugegoda (Warehouse), Dickman’s Road, Ja-ela, Majestic City, Crescat (Backstage), Battaramulla, Kiribathgoda, Kandy and at the Bandaranaike International Airport.

Odel has been shortlisted as a finalist at the Global Fashion Awards 2011 in the category ‘Outstanding Customer Experience’ for its role in redefining shopping in Sri Lanka.
