Samanala Sandhawaniya (Butterfly Symphony), the latest cinematic musical composition of the renowned Director, Jayantha Chandrasiri, starring Yashoda Wimal-adharma, was launched in a glamorous event at Savoy Cinema, Wellawatte on 4 October 2013. Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit Chairperson Ioma Rajapaksa graced this star-studded event as chief guests. Adding to the enchantment of the evening, the event was further graced by many distinguished invitees hailing from the film industry, business and political community and the media.

The highlight of the launch was when the three leading actors, Yashoda Wimaladharma, Uddika Premarathna and Soorya Dayaruwan (a fresh face to Sri Lankan cinema introduced through this film), arrived at the red carpet accompanied in a limousine. Decked in colourful trimmings, the entire Savoy Cinema held a magnetic and elegant ambience, capturing the essence of the film perfectly. The

air was filled with the sweet melody of music, courtesy of accomplished violinist, Dilpahan Mallikarachchi. All who graced the event was entranced by the brilliant music and the competent, engrossing performance rendered by the actors, thoroughly enjoying the journey provided by the movie – through time and life. The film Samanala Sandhawaniya (Butterfly Symphony) is directed and written by Jayantha Chandrasiri and is a presentation of Ruoo Cinema Creation House. Produced by Ruwan Jayasinghe and Palitha Gunawardena, the talented cast of the film include renowned actress, Yashoda Wimaladharma, Uddika Premarathna and Pubudu Chathuranga in the leading roles while other prominent actors and actresses lent their strength in supporting roles. The story revolves around Vadeesha Dev-aminda Wickramanayake, a young musical genius and his association with a love letter written by Punya, a woman who is more mature than him.
