Everyone deserves to be in the limelight at least once in their lifetime. If singing’s your passion, then you should try out your luck at the reality singing competition, The Karaoke Championships, set to kick off today at The Floor from 1 p.m. onwards.
The Karaoke Championships Season One auditions produced by Channel Media will be similar to the international American Idol where three famous Sri Lankan musicians and producers will take on the judging panel to search for the next best voice in Sri Lanka.
With many singing competitions taking place in the country, the market for English singing competitions is very slow in moving upwards. In a country where we have seen a rapid growth for English music and concerts featuring many renowned international artists such as Tinie Tempah, Shaggy, Artful Dodger, Bryan Adams, Alexandra Stan just to name a few, it comes at a shock that this market is only growing now.
Channel Media Managing Director and Karaoke Championships Creator Anil Balasuriya is hoping to change this and bring out and broaden the talent bank for English musicians in Sri Lanka as he believes this can be achieved with the right platform, contact and resources.
Speaking on this new competition, he explained: “The unique thing about this competition is that whoever who wins this competition will have their careers guided by Channel Media and they will be promoted locally and overseas.”
The winner of the Karaoke Championships Season One will receive half a million rupees in prize money and a chance to record a song produced by The Sherifs and the video by Channel Media plus a record deal.
All participators should be 21 and above.
