Annual concert brings together Soul Sounds and Revelations 

Standard Chartered Bank will once again sponsor the annual family Christmas concert by the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka (SOSL). This much looked forward to event, a priority in Colombo’s Christmas circuit, will for the first time have on stage the celebrated choirs of Soul Sounds and Revelations.

The concert will be held on 11 December at the Ladies College hall. Standard Chartered Bank is sponsoring the concert for the seventh year.

Standard Chartered Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar, said the bank was proud to be the sponsors of this event. “Symphony Orchestra of Colombo is a true cultural icon setting the highest possible standard for musical excellence with a dynamic ensemble of some of Sri Lanka’s finest musicians. We are privileged to be part of the orchestra’s mission to enrich the cultural life of Colombo”.

The concert will feature a mix of classics, contemporary and standards. From Suppe’s “Light Cavalry”, Leroy Anderson’s Buglers’ Holiday, a medley from “Broadway”, a selection from the Beatles, Blue Tango and the Christmas Festival. The choirs will join in with Bach’s “Christmas  Oratorio”, Handel’s “Unto Us a Child is Born” and the unforgettable Hallelujah Chorus. Christmas standards such as the traditional sing-along including “Once in Royal David’s City” and “Jingle Bell Rock” will bring the concert to a swinging close.
