Steel Blue, a premium Sri Lankan clothing brand, has launched a boutique store in one of Colombo’s main business hubs – Nawam Mawatha.
Steel Blue commenced its operation in Sri Lanka in early 2011 with a retail store in Colpetty. The company designs and manufactures all its clothing in its own production facility.
Steel Blue primarily focuses on modern work wear for men and women; it also offers a range of smart casual, party and island wear. Its new store in Nawam Mawatha is the company’s second retail store in Sri Lanka.
Speaking at the launch, the company’s Executive Directors Shabina Mahuroof and Jeeshan Mirza stated: “The Nawam Mawatha store marks a new chapter in Steel Blue’s story in Sri Lanka. Over the past year and a half since our launch, we have worked tirelessly to satisfy our customers with the best fits, innovative designs and the best possible quality. In this time we have also realised there is a lot of demand for work wear, particularly in the women’s segment. People no longer just want to dress up for work; they want to look their best in stylish, well-fitted clothing. We have focused a lot of our energy in the work wear area. We thought Nawam Mawatha being a business district is a perfect area for us to expand our reach.” In addition to the ready-to-wear collection, Nawam Mawatha customers can also benefit from Steel Blue’s made-to-measure service where they can personalise their clothing according to their taste or requirement.
Steel Blue plans to roll out more stores in the coming year. The company also plans to expand its offerings to cater to more lifestyle segments.
