The Theatre Circle of Stafford Sri Lankan School Doha brings a theatre production every alternative year for the local community to enjoy and this year they are ready with a contemporary version of ‘The Midsummer Night’s Dream’ – one of the most famous comedies written by the English playwright William Shakespeare.  The theatre production will grace the stage of Musaeus College Colombo, Sri Lanka on 26 July and 18 September in Doha, Qatar with students cast from Year 7 to Year 13.

Magic is the delightful thread that runs through the tapestry of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Magic is about the supernatural elements of the mythic and fairy world but it’s also a simpler, more natural force. There’s the magic of love, the magic of the morning dew, and even the magic of poetry and art are assorted evenly in Midsummer Magic.

The production is a brilliant opportunity for everyone to escape the hectic life style for a few hours and to enjoy the fairies, goblins, witches and devils who could cast spells, change people into birds or animals and do all styles of other extraordinary things.

As SSLSD believes, it’s a necessity to participate in academic and non-academic activities during school years for the growth of a totally balanced individual. Theatre allows students to practice lifelong skills that are going to help them in future.  The production initiates and encourages developing many values among the students and the staff of SSLSD.

Commitment and responsibility is shown through the student’s and members’ of the staff dedication to the production.  Furthermore, the drama production is a brilliant way for students from different year groups to interact with one another, an initiative we try to encourage within the school.

More details will be published on the school website and on Midsummer Magic Facebook page: http://www.slsqatar.org/ and https://www.facebook.com/TheatreCircle.
