Senior Western Band of Wesley College Colombo
In celebration of its 30th anniversary this year, the Senior Western Band of Wesley College Colombo proudly presents – PULSE 16 – a gala musical extravaganza featuring nearly 500 students from 10 schools at 4:30 p.m. on Monday 21 March at the Bishop’s College auditorium.
This much awaited evening of music will feature the bands of a large number of invited schools such as Ave Maria Convent Negombo, Bishop’s College, Carey College, Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, Holy Cross College Gampaha, Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya, Maris Stella College Negombo, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya Colombo, St. Anne’s College Wattala, St. Mary’s College Chilaw, etc.
Bands from Wesley College’s primary schools at Havelock Town and Katunayake will also perform at the show together with the Senior Western Band of Wesley College and its past members.
Tickets are priced are priced at Rs. 700 (college students), Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 1,500 and are available at the Wesley College Office, Bishop’s College Auditorium Office and with the Wesley College Prefects.
Band Leader Lakshan Palihawadana said that while celebrating the band’s 30th anniversary, the main objective of this annual event is to provide an opportunity for the Western Bands of other schools to display their talents. “We are confident this exercise will also positively influence the future of the Sri Lankan music industry by the sharing of the knowledge of music. All profits from this event are in aid of funding the purchase of new music instruments for the Western Band.”
“Pulse 16 encourages the participation of all music lovers. It also creates an enjoyable and fun-filled atmosphere for all participants and spectators to meet in the universal spirit of music,” added Teacher-in-Charge Thilina Fernando.
The current instructors of the Senior Western Band of Wesley College Colombo are Warrant Army Officer T.F.A. Gressy and Police Sargeant T.A. Gressy. The band is led by Lakshan Palihawadana with the support of Deputy Leader Udara Silva and Assistant Leader Brian Fernando.
