Nawam Mawatha was bustling with people last Thursday and the aroma of open-grilled chicken burgers and hotdogs kept people coming back for more when the Rotaract Club of Colombo together with The Sandwich Factory organised a cookout right in the middle of the car park.
Lunch was all about cheeseburgers, BBQ burgers, hotdogs and chicken wings for these busy people who simply refused to budge from the live cooking station that was causing so much commotion at the car park.
“We are happy to partner with The Sandwich Factory for a cause as good as this,” said Hussain Akbarally, the current President of the Rotaract Club of Colombo. “We’ve known Hisham who runs TSF since he is an old member and we are pleased with the turnout at this cookout – which was very impromptu.”
This is the first project by the Rotaract Club of Colombo which has a host of interesting and exciting social service projects lined up for the coming year. “We are excited about so many things which we’ve got planned up – one of which includes giving a remote village in Puttalam that has never seen a light bulb flicker some electricity.”
Commenting on the cookout, Hisham Cader, who runs The Sandwich Factory noted that the turnout was better than expected and that they hoped to have many more events such as these in the future.
