For the fourth consecutive year, Prima Kottumee – a brand that represents the vibrancy and the energy of youth – has produced a unique calendar focusing on youth. The 2013 calendar was launched on 14 December 2012 with a stunning fashion show at The Stables, Park Street Mews in a blitz of fanfare.
Prima Kottumee provided the much needed platform for youngsters who have aspirations to walk the ramps of fashion shows to delve into show business and modelling. The models, initially trained and groomed, were photographed by renowned photographer Lakshmanan Nadaraja for the Prima Kottumee calendar and were then presented glamorously on the ramp at the Prima Kottumee fashion show.
In planning the Prima Kottumee calendar, an extensive ‘Model Hunt’ was conducted through television, radio and newspapers ads as well as the Kottumee website and via e-mail and Facebook. Having received a very enthusiastic response from the youth all around the country, it was interesting to note that a majority of these applications were received via digital mediums.
Through a stringent screening process, 250 candidates were shortlisted. Subsequently, 24 candidates were selected to be featured in the 2013 calendar by former Miss World for Miss Universe 2005 contestant Rozanne Diasz. The selected models were trained by Diasz for their first fashion show which was held on the day of the calendar launch.
In addition to launching the 24 selected models to the media at the fashion show and showcasing them on the brand calendar, Prima Kottumee also awarded each model with a six month modelling scholarship for Zsaid Images modelling academy to train under the expert guidance of Dharshi Amarasekara and Rozanne Diasz.
