MTV Channels now on SLT PEO TV

For the first time since its inception, MTV Channel (Pvt) Ltd. joins hands with a Pay TV service provider and being first to air MTV channels, SLT PEO TV wishes to proudly announce to its customers the launch of the three MTV channels Sirasa TV, Channel One MTV and Shakthi TV on the PEO TV platform from now onwards. is the premier private television network in the country equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and progamming. This new tie up will permit all PEO TV customers to watch their favourite TV programmes aired on MTV’s channels without any additional cost. Sirasa TV, Channel One MTV and Shakthi TV will also be provided with Time shift TV to offer convenience to customers to watch what they have missed out, whenever they want.

Incorporated in 1993, MTV Channel (Pvt) Ltd. commenced operations in 1994 with the launch of MTV. BY 2000, its channels Sirasa TV, Channel One MTV and Shakthi TV had reached a leadership position in each language category and was renowned for its innovative programming, the resounding success of which set the blueprint for Sri Lanka local language programming and spawned several copy cat versions of their shows. MTV is also widely acclaimed for its news service ‘News First’ which has established itself as Sri Lanka’s premier news provider operating the country’s largest electronic newsroom and providing over 200 balanced timely news reports per day in all three languages.

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC introduced the IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) technology to Sri Lanka under the brand name PEO TV (Personalized Entertainment Option). SLT PEO TV offers a host of services to its customers including live TV services, time shift TV, rewind TV, video on demand, subscription video on demand and many interactive applications and services. SLT PEO TV currently owns an active subscriber base of 40,000 around the island and presently customers can enjoy over 60 local and international TV channels.
