The joint online survey by the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and Mitko Family Health Care – a social-biz company (Mitko FHC) to measure sexual behaviour of sexually active people in Sri Lanka, received an overwhelming response of 5,713 against the estimated 3,000 responses, when it was officially closed on 10 November.
The survey findings are expected to unleash new trends in sexual behavioural patterns of sexually active people, which will be instrumental for future HIV prevention efforts in the country.
The findings may also call for further scientific study covering a more representative sample. The high response rate is attributed to the ever increasing use of mobile devices and professional handling of the online marketing campaign.
Infologix was the digital agency in charge of the online marketing for the survey by UNAIDS and MITKO FHC. As a startup agency, Infologix successfully handled the email and social media aspects of the survey’s distribution – reaching over 245,000 active Sri Lankan Facebook users in the final week alone. Acknowledging the survey’s virtuous purpose, the digital agency offered its professional services free of charge.
A team from UNAIDS and Mitko, under the guidance of UNAIDS Sri Lanka Country Manager Dr. Dayanath Ranatunga, is currently engaged in the data analysis process. The findings are expected to be released on 28 November at the World AIDS Day commemoration, in Galle Face Grounds.
