Very often we admire the creations of local craftsmen and women who use their skills to create beautiful and intricate products. It is after many hours of work in hot, sweaty conditions that these products find their way into showrooms in the cities.
Kalegana and Heenpandela are two villages in the Galle District where wood craftsmen excel in their work. Many of them specialise in carving elephants.
