Hilton Colombo today announced their 20th Oktoberfest which is a typical German food and brew festival offering the best of Bavarian fare and a Bavarian band from 24 October to 2 November, at the sports centre arena. This year Oktoberfest will be grander and bigger with a marquee that can accommodate up to a thousand people at one sitting. The promotion includes an extensive spread of German cold cuts, salads, freshly baked pretzels, an assortment of home-made sausages, prepared by Cargills master chef Stephan Ferdinand together with Hilton Colombo’s newly appointed executive chef Daniel Leah and his professional team of chefs. The Bavarian band is exclusively flown in for the Oktoberfest each year which is the highlight of the promotion. Guests could enjoy a line-up of fun events such as the power hammer, brew drinking competitions, wrestling, hat games, chicken dance, dancing on tables and more. Last year approximately 7,800 Oktoberfest revellers enjoyed 13,000 sausages, 400 roast chickens, 1,300 kg of pork knuckles and 250 kg of beef topside. This year being its 20th year of celebration, the Oktoberfest will feature special Oktoberfest memorabilia for purchase.  Oktoberfest mugs, hats, t-shirts and more will be on sale during the festival. Oktoberfest will be held for 10 days starting at 7 p.m. until midnight from Monday through Thursday and 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
