Get clawed the Sri Lankan way at Cinnamon Grand’s crab promotion, from 10 December 2013 until 4 January 2014. The promotion will serve the best and freshest of blue sea and export quality lagoon crabs cooked in traditional Sri Lankan flavours.
Sit under the sheath of the 200 year old Nuga Tree which stands in the centre of the village and enjoy some delectable crab dishes made in true village fashion. Dig into some blue sea crab or export quality lagoon crab, cooked in the renowned Negombo or Jaffna styles.
In addition to the best crabs available, if you prefer your prawns, then the Batticaloa or Negombo prawn curry maybe just what you’re looking for. But if fish be more your dish, the kelawalla (tuna) ambul thiyal cooked the Matara way, may just make your day. These traditional Sri Lankan dishes are made by the expert ‘village amme’ in the Nuga Gama kitchen and spiced with the most authentic of seasonings, spices and herbs.
Savour a spicy Sri Lankan lunch under the cooling shade of the Nuga Tree, served from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the weekends (Saturday and Sunday during the promotion period), or dig into it for dinner, daily, between 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. A kilogram of blue sea crab is priced at Rs. 2,000 (plus taxes), with 1 kg of export quality lagoon crabs at Rs. 4,500 (plus taxes).
Enjoy a side plate of ‘kade pan’ (a typically Sri Lankan style bread) and Pol Sambol (spicy coconut sambol) with your crabs while sipping on some traditional Sri Lankan beverages, in a completely relaxing rural experience.
So if you are down in Sri Lanka for the festive season and can’t wait for some finger licking Sri Lankan crab curries, or if you’ve been in the country all year long but just didn’t have the time to dish up the flavours at home, just head on over to Nuga Gama and treat yourself. Gather your friends and family and get ready to get messy with the best crabs in the country.
