On 25 October, Lakshmi Wijayatilake was awarded the French Foreign Affairs bronze medal by Christine Robichon, Ambassador of France.
Wijayatilake worked in the French embassy in Colombo for 31 years, from 1980 to her retirement in April 2011. Thanks to her commitment to work, her charming personality and her appreciated knowledge of Sri Lankan society’s diversity, Wijayatilake, who was employed as receptionist became over the years an irreplaceable employee to whom France is pleased to demonstrate its gratitude.
