Etisalat Yala Village photography winners

The Etisalat Yala Village nature photographic exhibition and award ceremony was held last week with a wide selection of talented photos adoring the wall of the Harold Peiris Gallery – Lionel Wendt. The prize giving took place under the patronage of CEO Etisalat Lanka Dumindra Rathnayaka and Jayatntissa Kehelpannala EVP – JKH Sector Head Resorts.

Etisalat Lanka joined forces with Yala Village Hotel, a member of the John Keells Hotels Group to present the Nature Photographer of the year 2010, an Island wide nature photographic competition which showcased the skills of local photographers and highlighted the bio diversity prevalent in Sri Lanka’s wilds.

This year’s effort drew more than 280 contestants an over 800 wildlife images on both the Senior and Junior categories. An innovative category which was new this year was the Best Camera Phone Nature Photograph to be uploaded to the competition website. Tremendous interest was generated here with several hundred images being uploaded.

A Grand Prize that exceeds Rs 100,000 was won by the Title Winner, Yala Village – Etisalat Nature Photographer 2010 Dr.Gamini Kathirarachchi, with category winners in the various groups.
