Break fast the traditional way by consuming dates and follow it up with a choice of two soups (shorbetharira – meat and shorbetades – vegetable) , a selection of hot and cold mezze (hummus biltaheen – chickpea with sesame puree dip, kayar bill lebana – cucumber with yoghurt and dry mint, fattouch – Arabic tossed salad, baba ghanouj – grilled eggplant and vegetable salad, to name a few) and eight main dishes (saffron rice, kibbehbel saniyeh – mince lamb pie with spices, chicken molikiya, vegetable moussaka, samakharrah – grilled modha with spicy tomato sauce and arabic mixed grill, lamb kofta, to name a few).
Action corners for chicken shawarma, carvery (oven roasted leg of lamb marinated with Arabic spices), roti station (Arabic bread, rumali roti, beef stuffed roti and lamb arrays), hot snacks (mutton patties, vegetable samosas) and the Sri Lankan station (chicken
kanji, kaliya, beef parts curry, potato curry, eriyal – sautéed capsicum, lemon pickle, onions and garlic) will also be part of the buffet. A juice bar, faluda, tea and coffee will afford a refreshing way to end fast while a dessert table with traditional desserts such as umm ali, mohalabiya, basboussa, custard with jelly, baklava, Arabic sweets as well as panna cotta, seasonal fruits and ice cream, offers the ideal end to the meal.
The Iftar buffet will be handled by Cinnamon Grand’s very own specialised Chef who has worked in the Middle East for 13 years, with experience in the personal kitchens of the Prime Minister of Bahrain and the Head of the State umm al quwan in Dubai where he was party to the chefs that catered when entertaining royalty. The Iftar buffet therefore guarantees authenticity in its fare.
The buffet is priced at Rs. 2,000 (plus taxes) with the added option of Shisha for Rs. 3,000 (plus taxes) at the Courtyard’s breezy terrace, with 15 flavours of Shisha including chocolate, mint, cherry, strawberry and double apple.
