The organisers behind the exciting and highly anticipated weekend set to take Colombo by storm, are ready to share their inside plans with the public. After many months of logistics and operational planning, the 16 and 17 of December is looking to promise an event unlike any event Sri Lanka has ever seen before.
The artists
Amongst the line up of international artists playing at this year’s Electric Peacock Festival on the 16th December, here are two that are certain to make the weekend one to remember.
The first is Grammy Award winning Felix B of Basement Jaxx! This multi talented, accolade heavy artist is set to bring you musical mayhem on Friday! Headlining the festival, Basement Jaxx is sure to make his set a spectacle!
Electric Peacock Festival has created a trend of attracting hugely popular artists to Sri Lanka, starting off by bringing the heavy weight Grammy Award winning DJ Roger Sanchez in December 2010. Festival Co-Founder, Leah Bazalgette said “We are so excited to have such a cutting edge artist that moulded the international dance scene actually perform on our stage! Basement Jaxx headlined Glastonbury in 2005, the most revered music festival in the world. This is the ultimate recognition for an artist, with headline acts like Paul McCartney, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Blur and U2 being just some of the acts that have headlined Glastonbury over the years.” 2005 even saw them play at the world famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and more recently to 30,000 people in Hyde Park in Central London. With album sales of more than three million under their belt including their legendary debut album “Remedy” and 2005’s double platinum UK No.1 collection “The Singles”, 2010 saw Basement Jaxx return to their DJ’ing roots, from hometown gigs in downtown Brixton to massive US raves, from Space in Ibiza to the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi, the Jaxx continue to make waves throughout the music industry!
Expect to hear their famous tracks at the Electric Peacock including the chart topping UK single “Rendez-Vu”, “Romeo”, and their hugely famous single, “Where’s your head at?” The second is legendary British producer Chicane, a.k.a Nicholas Bracegirdle, who is billed as the main support for the Friday night has written and produced some of the most enduring and haunting trance tunes of the last decade; Offshore, Halcyon, Don’t Give Up, Stoned in Love, Saltwater, and Middledistancerunner.
Other artists include BBC Radio 1 DJ Nihal, returning to Sri Lanka to spin his eclectic and innovative mix of Asian infused sounds
