Wella, the world’s leader in hair care, was re-launched in Sri Lanka today with plans to take the country’s hair care industry by storm. Adding significance to this milestone event was the parallel launch of the exclusive Wella Studio (Training Centre) at 630, Kotte Road in Kotte.

From industry milestones like the Wella Junior portable permer, the first cream colorant Koleston Perfect and revolutionary home-styling products like New Wave Wet Gel and High Hair to the superior salon products and expert collections in store today, one hairdresser’s passionate dream now inspires over 4 million professionals and countless heads of beautiful hair across the globe.
Occupying a charming 260-year old historic Dutch house on the Kotte Road, the ‘Wella Studio’ will primarily function as a centre to train local stylists, hair dressers and colourists on the use of Wella products. This will comprise of a series of technical training sessions after which the stylists will receive a certificate of participation.
Visiting international hair dressers will also share their vast expertise and know-how at the ‘Wella Studio’ at regular intervals, and thereby help elevate local standards. An exciting part of the ‘Wella Studio’ will be regular model shows through which participants can practice their skills and gain hands-on, practical knowledge.
Outlining plans for marketing Wella in Sri Lanka Chairman/Managing Director of Cosmotech (Pvt) Ltd Shirantha Peries said, “The local hair care industry is incredibly buoyant and we’re thus proud to bring an internationally reputed product as Wella to Sri Lanka.Initial plans are to concentrate on Colombo and the immediate suburbs where there is a large concentration of salons. While catering the large majority of the salons in Sri Lanka, Cosmotech (Pvt) Ltd will also appoint distributors in major cities such as Kandy, Galle, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura etc and thereby reach out to a larger spectrum of Sri Lankans.
The Technical Head of Wella Sri Lanka will be Director of Cosmotech (Pvt) Ltd and celebrated hairdresser Johann Peries. A name synonymous with Sri Lanka’s beauty and hair care industry, Peries counts 25 years of wide ranging experience and has been a member of the prestigious world body of hairdressers – l’Organisation Mondiale des Coiffeurs (OMC). He has the unique honour of being the only internationally qualified judge in Sri Lanka.
