‘Walks of Life’, the debut solo exhibition by Nadya Tissera, is an exploration of life in its different stages and form. Captured all over Sri Lanka, from the deep South to the island’s Northern tip, Nadya’s pictures show the people and the animals that populate this grand canvas of our nation.

A psychology graduate, Nadya Tissera’s interest in photography was kindled by her love for the natural world and a desire to capture Mother Nature’s most intense moments. This led to her first camera purchase, a Nikon D3000, in early 2011. She began by dabbling in nature photography but quickly realised the concrete jungle that is Colombo also afforded opportunities for the photographer who was prepared to observe. Street Photography, she realised, was her calling. Today, Nadya is rarely seen without the D3000 by her side - her trusty companion as she travels the country exploring the many walks of life of Sri Lankans.

‘Walks of Life’ will be on display at the American Center from 1 September to 14 October.
