‘Share The Joy,’ the 20th All Island Annual Patchwork and Needlework Competition conducted by Daisy Vittachi will be held on the 7, 8 and 9 September 2012 at the Park Street Mews Warehouse from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
This is the longest consecutive annual craft competition which allows people from all over to showcase and be recognised for their ingenious creations. This event has also been the platform for many crafters to launch their own businesses in the comfort of their homes and supplement their daily income. Come and meet other craft enthusiasts and exchange new ideas, patterns, designs and sewing techniques.
“I am very proud to conduct the 20th consecutive annual event. My initial goal of bringing crafters from all over the island together and giving them an opportunity to exhibit their unique creations has been achieved. By showcasing their items at this competition, many have benefited by way of orders received for their products. I am so glad that this event has also influenced so many other women to take this up as a hobby which is a therapeutic form of relaxation,” stated Vittachi.0
On display will be over 20 elegant bedroom and baby room set-ups, 25 table decos, inspiring hand-embroidery, patchwork quilts, machine-embroidered items and many more innovative creations. Also on display will be the handiwork of several school children keen to highlight their emerging talents and creativity with needle and thread.
There will also be ‘Anchor-On-The-Spot’ sewing competitions and demonstrations conducted throughout the day. A new range of Anchor quick-stitch-kits, canvasses, threads and much more will be on sale at the Coats Thread Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. stall.
Vittachi will also conduct demonstrations on the functions and advantages of the ‘Brother’ sewing machines. The whole range of ‘Brother’ sewing and embroidery machines will be on display. A special discount will be offered by Office Network (Pvt) Ltd. for purchases at the venue.
Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the ‘Anchor Queen’ and the ‘Embroidery Queen’ by the sponsors, namely Coats Thread Lanka (Pvt) Ltd and Office Network (Pvt.) Ltd., agents for ‘Brother’ sewing machines.
Daisy Vittachi’s School of Hobby Craft will award the ‘Patchwork Queen’ trophy to the best quilter. Other winners will receive trophies, medals and each participant will receive a certificate.
Come on over and be a part of this momentous occasion, inspire yourself and re-kindle the inherent gift of creativity in you.
