  • Partners with Elephant House Sausages to serve up succulent spread
Having treated diners to a culinary journey around the world over the last one year, the Cinnamon Lakeside is bringing the journey to an end for 2013 with a spectacular ‘German Feast’. Partnering with Elephant House Sausages, the German Feast at The Dining Room is a sensational and succulent spread, which is sure to delight diners this festive season. With an emphasis on authenticity, the hotel has flown down Chef Julia Komp-Hamzaoui from the Cologne Chefs Association in Germany exclusively for this event, and all the hot dishes featured are prepared by her, drawing on her many years of experience preparing cuisine from various regions of Germany. Chef Julia’s culinary skills have gained her international recognition and together with the team at Cinnamon Lakeside, she presents a ‘German Feast’ like no other. Cinnamon Lakeside Marketing and Communications Manager Anusha Malwatta said that on Sunday the German Ambassador in Sri Lanka, who dined at The Dining Room with a large group, confirmed that the spread was both authentic and delicious. “He added that he was very impressed with the food and would be back again to enjoy the spread since it was just like ‘food back home,’” she confirmed. Welcoming the media on Monday along with Malwatta were Cinnamon Lakeside General Manager Denis Gruhier, Director – Sales and Marketing Adrian Jansz, Marketing and PR Coordinator Deepika Perera and Marketing and Communications Executive Anuradha Illeperumaarachchi. The spread laid out at The Dining Room included an impressive selection of starters – soups and several salads – followed by hot traditional German dishes and a delectable range of dessert delights. The menu changes every night to give repeat diners a better experience. The Germans are known for their love of merrymaking coupled with good food and entertainment. While pork, beef and poultry are the main varieties of meat consumed in Germany, a long tradition of sausage making exists in the country and over 1,500 different varieties of sausages can be found in the region. In this celebration of the best of German cuisine, Cinnamon Lakeside has fittingly gathered on board Elephant House, known to be the country’s leading provider of premium quality sausages that are on par with international standards. Delectable specialty sausages such as Elephant House Chicken Bratwurst and Smokey Pork Frankfurters are part of the elaborate ‘German Feast’. In addition to the dishes featuring irresistible Elephant House sausages, diners also have the opportunity to revel in masterfully created classics such as Waldorf salad with roast beef, baked shrimp with remoulade, cheese spätzle and many more. The mouth watering array of traditional desserts such as waffles with cream and cherries, warm chocolate cake and salted caramel creme are just as exciting and sure to keep you going back for more. The ‘German Feast’ at The Dining Room commenced on 7 December and will continue until 15 December from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Offered at Rs. 2,555 all inclusive, this feast is a celebration of the good things in life. The Dining Room can be reached on 0112491930 for reservations and inquiries. Pix by Daminda Harsha Perera
