 Festival of Choirs 2010 features top school talent 

The Western Music Society of Royal College presents “Festival of Choirs 2010” at 7.00 pm on Friday 29 October at the Bishop’s College Auditorium. This annual event enjoys a successful reputation as one of the leading Choir Festivals in Colombo, and has always pleased growing audiences with its magical performances.

 This year, too, the “Festival of Choirs” features several school choirs perform an assortment of delightful musical items which are bound to entertain the audience.

 Organised as an annual event by the Western Music Society of Royal College, the “Festival of Choirs” showcases the vocal talents of some of the best school choirs in Sri Lanka. Among them are the choirs of Musaeus College, Visakha Vidyalaya, Ladies College, Bishops College, Colombo International School, Wesley College and Royal College.

 Choral activity in Sri Lanka has risen to an unprecedented level during the past number of years, following a growing interest in the field. The student community in Sri Lanka is largely responsible for the growing recognition enjoyed by choirs and choral events.

 Displaying a vast array of talent, innovative dynamics, creative arrangements and exploring the boundaries of traditional and contemporary music, school choirs have thrilled and amazed audiences for countless years in the past.

 The “Festival of Choirs” is one of the first of such choral events to bring together choirs from a number of leading schools and present an evening of music to the general public. Throughout the years, the “Festival of Choirs” has acquired a reputation for excellence, combining the very best of Sri Lankan talent, bringing together a blend of exceptional music and leaving the audience yearning for more.
