The National Association of Photographers – Sri Lanka (NAPSL) has organized the first ever local digital projection image photographic competition in Sri Lanka. Last year, NAPSL organized the first ever digital projection international photographic competition in Sri Lanka for their 30th anniversary.
This year they have extended it to the Sri Lankan amateur photographers as well.
Generally entries for the photographic competitions have to be submitted in prints but after the introduction of digital photography most of the countries have taken to digital projection image competitions and in Sri Lanka, NAPSL pioneered the system. It saves time and money for the entrants and for most of the competition entries can also be sent on-line saving the postage too.
This year’s NAPSL annual island-wide photography contest was held in digital image projection system and veteran photographers Mr. Dee Ga Somapala, Mr. Henry Rajakaruna and Mr. Priyantha Amarasinghe served in the panel of judges. Out of the several hundreds of images received 150 photographs have been selected for the exhibition.
NAPSL has arranged to open the exhibition for public from 4 to 6 November at the BMICH during the ‘Image Today’ photographic trade exhibition organized by the Buysell Interaction Ltd. of Chennai, India. Image Today is the largest photo, video and digital imaging international exhibition in Sri Lanka organized annually. Selected images for the display has been printed on Kodak high quality printing papers by Lakdam Digital Color Lab using state of the art Noritsu HD digital photo printers.
