World-renowned conductor Prof. Andre De Quadros will be in Sri Lanka to conduct the launch of the World Interfaith Choral Ensemble produced and directed in collaboration with Soundarie David Rodrigo, Manoj Sanjeewa and Francis D’ Almeida.
The event is to take place at the Shangri-La Hotel on 27 February. The performances will be by the Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Christian ensembles trained for the performance by Sri Lanka’s leading artistic directors.
As a global initiative, the World Interfaith Choral Ensemble will bring artistes together in support of interfaith unity and peace activities; and this richly personal and intensely passionate platform will equip us all to carry on supported by the likeminded in order to fulfil the objectives.
The event, an evolution of Voices for Peace founded by Haadia Galely who also founded the World Interfaith Choral Ensemble will also see the participation of guest artistes, Ridma Weeawardene, Davina and Suren De Kauwe, Shenuk Wijesinghe, Ian Ranasinghe, Dumi Fernando and C.C. De Silva.
Galely, together with hospitality partner Shangri-La Hotel Sri Lanka, will continue this peace effort, by staging Voices for Peace 2 which will be held on 27 February. This event will also serve as a platform to launch the World Interfaith Choral Ensemble to aid in the process of the goals they wish to achieve.
They were privileged to have worked with selfless individuals in 2019, who graciously donated their time, contributing towards the success of the occasion; these Emissaries for Peace will once again be collaborating with other names from the industry who will contribute to this undertaking by working together towards mending divides of conflict, animosity, and injustice that seem to be the norm rather than the exception in our world, our nations, our communities, and our homes today.
Tickets will be available at the Shangri-La event desk from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For inquiries contact Arafa Anver on 0777582538 or 0777350691.
