The club expects to witness many VW Karma Ghia and Variants that have confirmed their attendance that would be an excellent opportunity for VW Fans to come over and witness all that is “Air Cooled” in one location.
The committee has put together a fun-filled day of activities and will also make some special presentations to great personalities who have brought fame to VW and who have ensured the longevity of the Bug through the professional services offered to the fraternity. In addition, there will be a fun event to check on one’s parking skills and advice by a senior VW “Guru” in keeping the car alive very specially in keeping in mind the cost factors that would be of value to the members.
The Club said it is indebted to the sponsors and well-wishers who have upheld the activities of the Club for the past 25 years with a special word of thanks to the LOLC Holdings Ltd., who has so graciously come forward as a main sponsor for this year’s Silver Jubilee celebrations as well.
“We look forward to a record participation at this year’s event as we have exceeded over 100 VW’s in the past and wish to convey our sincere thanks to the owners of the Diminutive VW for their support and encouragement extended towards the activities of the VW Beetle Owners’ Club, Sri Lanka,” a statement said.
Volkswagen Beetle Owners’ Club was formed by a group of Owners has reached 25 years and has a membership of over 250 at present. From the very inception of the Club, the members have been the focal point of the Club’s activities which continues to grow with new members joining in at events organised by the Club.
The Club holds events at every quarter of the year which is the traditional “Pride of Ownership” drive that carried on unbroken for over 20 years but sadly did not take place due to the COVID restrictions that came to play but continued to hold the VW Pageant which generally coincides with the World Volkswagen Day that is held every June and celebrated around the world. The Club consists of members both young and old and some who are the third generation of owners of the delightful Beetle that to most have become a part of the family. Thanks to the great reliability of this diminutive little “Bug”, many of the first imports in the early 50s are still with the Club.
