Bringing the city of Galle to light the Fairway Galle Literary Festival will be taking the South by storm from 24-28 January 2018. Once again Jetwing Hotels has joined with the five-day festival as its hospitality partner – a partnership that has spanned over 10 years, since the festival’s inception. Jetwing Lighthouse, Jetwing Lighthouse Club, Jetwing Kurulubedda, and Galle Heritage Villa by Jetwing will be home to an eclectic set of workshops and events, not to be missed.
The internationally reputed festival will have a stronger focus on literature, visual arts, culinary experiences, architecture and theatre, and excellent opportunities to showcase local artists. Jetwing properties in Galle will host intriguing workshops by renowned personalities such as Sallyanne Atkinson, Herman Gunaratne, Charles Allen, Hilali Noordeen, Sunela Jayawardene, Katharine Norbury, Justine Picardie, and Carlos Andrés Gómez including the famed actress Dame Maggie Smith who will be sharing her expertise on ‘The Serious Art of Being Funny’ at Jetwing Lighthouse on 26 January 2018. In addition exclusive events such as a literary lunch hosted with Louis De Bernieres at Jetwing Kurulubedda (25 January), literary lunch with Nirupama Rao and Kiryl Rudy at Galle Heritage Villa by Jetwing (27 January), and literary dinner at Jetwing Lighthouse with Richard Flanagan (27 January) will also take place during the festival.
With events scheduled in and around Galle, Hall de Galle will be the centre of action with numerous stalls displaying and selling an assortment of items. The festivities will only heighten with cultural events taking place throughout the days and food and drink offerings ready to be devoured as you take a stroll down Galle Fort. Make sure to drop by the Jetwing Hotels stall serving mouth-watering delicacies while enjoying the festivities.
