Shankar Foundation, India in association with Sunera Foundation, Sri Lanka will be presenting an evening of dance and music featuring ‘Jonathan Livingston Seagull’ – A musical play by gifted children with special needs from India and Sri Lanka at 6:30 p.m. on 23 August at the Lionel Wendt Memorial Theatre, Colombo 7. This program is supported by the Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo to strengthen the cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Shankar Foundation, India is a NGO that nurtures mind, soul and spirit of children with special needswith a commitment towards creating a better place for children. They have strived hard to strengthen the weak areas of students with special needs working alongside highly expertise professionals. Shankar Foundation explores the possibilities of sustainable growth of persons with special needs in the urban as well as rural areas. Shankar Foundation also strives for the development of human resource, research, documentation, dissemination of information in related to disability sector.
Dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for persons with disability, Sunera Foundation, Sri Lanka established in the year 2000 facilitates their fullest integration into society. Over the years their pioneering work has brought together over 2,500 young disabled people, who are given the opportunity to develop their creative talents in the fields of art, drama, dance and music. Well-trained and experienced young trainers of the foundation conduct workshops weekly in 37 locations throughout Sri Lanka having an average of 25 young persons with disability per workshop of all ages and ethnic groups, both male and female.
